Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-conscious Lighting Technician’s Mate to join our fast-paced live events and attractions team. This challenging role involves assisting senior lighting technicians with the installation, maintenance, and operation of lighting systems across our resort. A significant component of this position includes climbing and rigging at heights, requiring physical stamina, a keen eye for safety, and a willingness to learn and develop specialized skills. Key Responsibilities

• Assist Lighting Technicians with the setup, focusing, cabling, and strike of various lighting fixtures and systems for shows, events, and attractions.
• Perform rigging tasks, including climbing, securing equipment, and adhering to strict safety protocols for work at height.
• Learn and apply safe working practices for all aspects of rigging and lighting, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Inspect and maintain lighting equipment, cables, and rigging hardware, reporting any defects or issues.
• Operate lift equipment (e.g., scissor lifts, boom lifts) as required, under supervision and after proper training.
• Support troubleshooting and repair of lighting equipment under the guidance of experienced technicians.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored.
• Collaborate effectively with other technical teams, production staff, and performers to ensure seamless event execution.

Required Skills

• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools safely.
• Excellent physical condition, including the ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand/walk for extended periods.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
• Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn specialized technical skills.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience in theatre, live events, construction, or a similar field involving physical labor and equipment handling.
• Familiarity with basic electrical principles and terminology.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
• Certification in aerial lift operation (e.g., scissor lift, boom lift).
