Job Description
Join our dedicated team as a Local Council Refuse Collector / Bin Loader and play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and well-being of the Erie community. This physically active role involves working outdoors as part of a crew to collect waste and recyclables from residential and commercial routes. Key Responsibilities
- Manually load refuse and recyclables from residential and commercial containers into the collection vehicle.
- Operate packing mechanisms and levers to compact collected materials.
- Safely ride on the back of a refuse truck during collection routes, dismounting to collect bins.
- Assist the driver in navigating routes safely and efficiently.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper lifting techniques and personal protective equipment usage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area on and around the vehicle.
- Communicate effectively with team members and the public.
- Work cooperatively to ensure timely completion of assigned routes.

- Ability to lift heavy objects repeatedly throughout the day (up to 50 lbs).
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous experience working outdoors or in a physically demanding role.
- A valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
