Job Description
Maritime Pet Haven is seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team as a Pet Boarding Night Attendant. This crucial role is focused on the overnight care and monitoring of animals in our boarding facility during the quieter hours. As a Night Attendant, you will ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of all our animal guests, performing routine checks, light cleaning, and responding to any animal needs. This is an ideal position for someone who is calm, observant, and deeply compassionate towards animals, and comfortable working independently through the night. Full training will be provided to the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic and a genuine love for pets.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular welfare checks on all boarding animals throughout the night.
- Monitor animal behavior, health, and emotional well-being, reporting any concerns to the morning staff.
- Ensure all animals have fresh water and comfortable bedding.
- Perform light cleaning and sanitation of kennels and common areas.
- Respond promptly to any urgent animal needs, such as distress or illness (following established protocols).
- Maintain a quiet and peaceful environment to ensure the animals' restful sleep.
- Document observations and incidents accurately in shift logs.
- Prepare the facility for the morning staff and daily operations.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and compassion for animals.
- Reliable and punctual, with excellent attendance record.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly during overnight shifts.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to follow instructions and established protocols.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable working in an environment with various animal sounds and odors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (paid or volunteer) with animal care, pet sitting, or sheltering.
- Knowledge of basic animal behavior and common signs of distress.
- First Aid/CPR certification for pets (or willingness to obtain).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
