Job Description
Join our dedicated team as a Refuse Collector / Bin Loader in Detroit, MI! This physically demanding yet rewarding role involves working outdoors to collect residential and commercial waste, ensuring our city remains clean and green. You’ll be part of a vital service that impacts the daily lives of residents. We offer early morning starts, which means early finishes, giving you more time back in your day. No prior experience is necessary; we provide comprehensive on-the-job training to all new team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate alongside a team on a designated route to collect refuse from residential and commercial properties.
- Safely and efficiently load waste and recycling bins into the collection vehicle.
- Navigate routes with drivers, providing guidance and ensuring safe operations.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Maintain cleanliness of collection equipment and vehicle.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment as required.
- Assist with other duties as assigned to maintain operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform strenuous physical work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality for early morning shifts.
- Strong work ethic and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Michigan Driver's License.
