Job Description

We are actively seeking dedicated and experienced Long Haul Truck Drivers to join our team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This is a full-time position offering extensive opportunities for long-distance hauls across Canada and potentially cross-border into the United States. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate heavy-duty trucks and trailers for long-distance hauling.
  • Transport goods efficiently and securely across designated routes, adhering to strict schedules.
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial/state, and company regulations, including hours of service.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, manifests, and electronic logging device (ELD) records.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
  • Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting and damage during transit.
  • Perform minor roadside repairs if necessary.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and traffic laws.
  • Represent TFI International professionally at all times.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class 1A (or equivalent HGV/CDL) driver's license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable long-haul driving experience.
  • Clean driving abstract and criminal record check.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent knowledge of transportation regulations and road safety standards.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cross-border (Canada-US) operations.
  • Dangerous Goods (TDG) endorsement.
  • Experience with various types of freight and trailers.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting.
