Job Description
We are actively seeking dedicated and experienced Long Haul Truck Drivers to join our team in Sydney, Nova Scotia. This is a full-time position offering extensive opportunities for long-distance hauls across Canada and potentially cross-border into the United States. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy-duty trucks and trailers for long-distance hauling.
- Transport goods efficiently and securely across designated routes, adhering to strict schedules.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial/state, and company regulations, including hours of service.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, manifests, and electronic logging device (ELD) records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent shifting and damage during transit.
- Perform minor roadside repairs if necessary.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and traffic laws.
- Represent TFI International professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 1A (or equivalent HGV/CDL) driver's license.
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable long-haul driving experience.
- Clean driving abstract and criminal record check.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent knowledge of transportation regulations and road safety standards.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Punctuality and reliability.
- Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cross-border (Canada-US) operations.
- Dangerous Goods (TDG) endorsement.
- Experience with various types of freight and trailers.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting.
