Job Description
Join RBC Capital Markets as a Macroeconomic Research Intern. This is an excellent opportunity for aspiring economists or finance professionals to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic investment banking environment. You will support our senior economists and strategists by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting macroeconomic data, contributing to research reports, and developing forecasting models. This role emphasizes learning and development, providing a foundational understanding of how macroeconomic trends influence financial markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the collection, organization, and analysis of macroeconomic data from various sources.
- Support the research team in preparing presentations, reports, and daily market commentaries.
- Develop and maintain economic databases and analytical tools.
- Conduct literature reviews on specific economic topics and methodologies.
- Contribute to the development of macroeconomic forecasts and scenario analyses.
- Attend team meetings and learn about current market trends and research priorities.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, Python, Stata) is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in macroeconomic trends and financial markets.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous coursework in econometrics or time series analysis.
