Job Description
Join the MEC team as a crucial part of our event support staff for an upcoming weekend marathon in Red Deer. We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to staff water stations along the marathon route. This vital role ensures runners stay hydrated and motivated throughout the race. As a Water Station Volunteer / Staff, you will be on the front lines, providing essential support and encouragement to participants. This is a temporary, weekend-only position, perfect for those looking to contribute to a vibrant community event and experience the excitement of race day.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and dismantle water station tents, tables, and supplies efficiently.
- Distribute water, electrolyte drinks, and possibly small fuel items to marathon runners as they pass.
- Maintain a clean and organized water station area throughout the event.
- Offer enthusiastic encouragement and support to all participants.
- Assist with general inquiries from runners or event spectators.
- Collaborate effectively with fellow water station team members and event organizers.
- Follow all safety guidelines and event protocols.
Required Skills
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks (lifting water jugs, setting up tables).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
