Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Master Distiller / Blender to lead our spirits production operations in Long Beach, California. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of distillation, blending, aging, and quality control for a diverse portfolio of spirits. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge, a creative palate, strong leadership skills, and a passion for crafting exceptional beverages. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of spirit production, including mashing, fermentation, distillation, aging, and bottling operations.
- Develop and refine spirit recipes and blending protocols to achieve desired flavor profiles and product consistency.
- Lead and mentor a team of distillers, blenders, and production staff, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control standards throughout the production process, from raw materials to finished product.
- Manage inventory of raw materials, spirits in production, and aged stock.
- Conduct research and development for new products, processes, and ingredients.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to spirit production.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams on product launches, tasting notes, and brand storytelling.
- Manage budgets, optimize operational efficiency, and control production costs.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in spirits distillation and blending roles.
- Demonstrated expertise in various distillation techniques and equipment.
- Exceptional sensory evaluation skills with a refined palate for spirits.
- Strong understanding of chemistry, microbiology, and process engineering related to distillation.
- Proven leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to innovate and drive product development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fermentation Science, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.
- Experience with a variety of spirit categories (e.g., whiskey, gin, rum, brandy).
- Certification from a recognized distilling institute or program.
- Experience managing multiple production lines or facilities.
- Strong project management skills.
