Job Description

Join the University of Oregon as a Space Medicine & Bioastronautics Intern and contribute to groundbreaking research at the intersection of human biology and space exploration. This entry-level internship provides a unique opportunity to work alongside leading researchers on projects designed to understand and mitigate the physiological challenges of spaceflight. You will gain hands-on experience in laboratory techniques, data analysis, and scientific communication, preparing you for a future career in aerospace medicine, bioastronautics, or related scientific fields. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist researchers in conducting experiments related to human physiology in microgravity and radiation environments.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze biological data from various research studies.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning and calibration.
  • Prepare and sterilize biological samples and reagents.
  • Conduct literature reviews to support ongoing research projects.
  • Document experimental procedures and results meticulously.
  • Present findings and progress updates to the research team.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Biology, Physiology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
  • Strong interest in space exploration, human health, and scientific research.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
