Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Master Mariner to join our shore-based operational team. This pivotal role involves providing expert maritime guidance, ensuring compliance with international regulations, and contributing to the safe and efficient management of our fleet operations. The successful candidate will leverage their extensive seagoing experience to enhance our safety culture, operational procedures, and training programs. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and ensure compliance with all national and international maritime regulations (e.g., SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW) across the fleet.
- Provide expert maritime advice and guidance to various departments, including operations, safety, and technical.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of vessels to ensure adherence to company policies and industry best practices.
- Develop and implement robust safety management systems and emergency procedures.
- Investigate maritime incidents, near misses, and non-conformities, recommending corrective and preventative actions.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of maritime training programs for seafarers.
- Liaise with flag state authorities, classification societies, and other regulatory bodies.
- Participate in new vessel projects, modifications, and technology implementations, providing mariner perspective.
Required Skills
- Unlimited Master Mariner Certificate of Competency (Class 1 / Master <3000GT / Master STCW II/2).
- Minimum of 5 years command experience on passenger or freight vessels.
- Thorough knowledge of international maritime law, conventions, and regulations.
- Proven experience in maritime safety management systems (ISM Code).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in maritime incident investigation and reporting.
- Full professional working proficiency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ferry operations or Ro-Pax vessels.
- Shore-based experience in a marine superintendent or operations manager role.
- Lead Auditor qualification (e.g., ISO 9001, ISM).
- Knowledge of maritime technology and digitalization trends.
- Experience in maritime training and competency assessment.
