Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our administrative team at Evergreen Health Goulburn. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the billing cycle, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, and maximizing revenue for our private practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical coding, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to patient satisfaction through efficient administrative processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire medical billing cycle from charge entry to payment posting.
- Prepare and submit clean claims to various insurance providers, including Medicare, private health funds, and WorkCover.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, denials, and rejections in a timely manner.
- Verify patient eligibility and benefits.
- Answer patient inquiries regarding billing and payment plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient billing records.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Stay informed about changes in billing regulations, coding updates, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure proper documentation for billing purposes.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year experience in medical billing or a related administrative role.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Medical Administration, Medical Billing, or a related field.
- Experience with Best Practice software.
- Knowledge of Australian healthcare billing practices and regulations.
