Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as a Vegetable Packer (On-Farm). This ongoing, full-time position offers immediate hire for those ready to work outdoors and contribute to the vital process of preparing fresh vegetables for distribution. You will be responsible for carefully sorting, washing, and packaging a variety of farm-fresh produce, ensuring it meets our high quality standards before it leaves the farm. This role requires attention to detail, a commitment to food safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and sort vegetables for quality, removing any damaged or substandard items
- Wash, clean, and prepare vegetables according to specific product guidelines
- Weigh and pack vegetables into appropriate containers or bags
- Label packages accurately with product information and date codes
- Maintain a clean and organised packing area, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
- Assist with general farm duties as required, including light harvesting or field preparation
- Operate basic packing machinery safely after receiving training
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily production targets
Required Skills
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Capacity to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Basic understanding of workplace health and safety principles
- Physical fitness to lift up to 15kg and stand for long durations
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a packing, production, or agricultural setting is a plus
- Awareness of food handling and hygiene practices
- First Aid certification (desirable)
