Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Meteorologist / Climate Scientist to join our dynamic environmental consulting team in Edison, NJ. This role involves applying advanced meteorological and climate science principles to support a diverse range of projects, including environmental impact assessments, climate resilience planning, air quality modeling, and risk assessments. The successful candidate will conduct data analysis, develop climate models, interpret atmospheric phenomena, and provide expert scientific advice to clients across various sectors. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed meteorological and climatological data analysis, including historical data, real-time observations, and forecast models.
  • Develop, run, and interpret regional climate models and atmospheric dispersion models to assess environmental impacts.
  • Perform climate change vulnerability assessments and develop adaptation strategies for infrastructure and natural systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical reports, presentations, and scientific papers summarizing findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of engineers, scientists, and planners on complex projects.
  • Provide expert meteorological and climate science input for regulatory compliance and environmental permitting.
  • Utilize GIS and other spatial analysis tools for data visualization and interpretation.
  • Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements, methodologies, and regulatory requirements in meteorology and climate science.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, Climate Science, or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in meteorological and climate data analysis using tools such as Python, R, MATLAB, or similar.
  • Experience with atmospheric or climate modeling software (e.g., WRF, CMAQ, CMIP models).
  • Strong understanding of atmospheric physics, thermodynamics, and dynamics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and client interaction.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Consulting Meteorologist).
  • Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Familiarity with air quality regulations and permitting processes.
  • Experience in environmental consulting or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in presenting scientific findings to diverse audiences.
