Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Midday Supervisor to join our dedicated team at Royal Mile Primary School. In this vital part-time role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety, welfare, and good conduct of our pupils during the lunchtime break, both in the dining hall and playground areas. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children, can manage group activities, and is committed to creating a positive and safe environment during their break times. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children in the dining hall, ensuring good behaviour and assisting younger children with their meals as needed.
- Oversee children's play in the playground, promoting positive interactions and resolving minor conflicts.
- Administer basic first aid for minor injuries, escalating serious incidents to appropriate staff.
- Ensure children follow school rules and maintain a safe play environment.
- Organise and encourage positive play activities.
- Report any concerns regarding a child's welfare or behaviour to the relevant teacher or senior staff member.
- Assist with tidying the dining hall and playground areas after lunch.
- Foster a calm and supportive atmosphere during the lunch break.
Required Skills
- A genuine interest in working with primary school-aged children.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults.
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible.
- Patient and understanding nature.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Basic understanding of child safety principles (training provided).
- Enthusiastic and proactive approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a school or childcare setting.
- First Aid qualification (though training will be provided if not held).
- An understanding of child development relevant to primary school age.
