Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Midwife to join our expanding team at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center Joliet. As a Registered Midwife, you will play a crucial role in providing holistic care to women throughout their pregnancy, labor, birth, and postnatal periods. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive antenatal care, including regular check-ups, health assessments, and educational support.
- Attend and manage labor and birth, ensuring the safety and comfort of the mother and baby.
- Deliver postnatal care, offering guidance on breastfeeding, newborn care, and maternal recovery.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being using appropriate clinical skills and technology.
- Identify and manage potential complications, referring to medical specialists when necessary.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to women and their families throughout the maternity journey.
- Educate patients on health promotion, disease prevention, and family planning.
- Maintain accurate and confidential patient records in accordance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with obstetricians, nurses, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training initiatives.
Required Skills
- Current registration as a Midwife in your country of origin, with eligibility for licensure in Illinois, USA.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise in antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to patient care.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Midwifery or a related field.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Previous experience working in a fast-paced hospital or birthing center setting.
- Cultural competence and experience working with diverse patient populations.
