Job Description

Specsavers in Poole is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as an Optometry Technician Trainee. This is an incredible opportunity for someone passionate about helping people and eager to learn the foundational skills of optometry. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive training will be provided to ensure you become a skilled and confident member of our clinical team. You will play a vital role in supporting our optometrists and delivering exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary eye tests and diagnostic screenings, such as visual field tests and retinal photography, under supervision.
  • Assist optometrists during eye examinations, ensuring all necessary equipment is prepared and patients are comfortable.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and manage appointment schedules.
  • Provide clear and concise explanations to patients regarding procedures and results.
  • Clean and maintain ophthalmic instruments and examination rooms.
  • Support the wider store team with general administrative and customer service duties as required.
  • Participate actively in all provided training programs and continuous professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service or patient-facing role (non-optical is fine).
  • An understanding of basic medical terminology (desirable, but not essential).
