Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable individual to join our team as a Plant Nursery Soil Bagger – Outdoor Retail Laborer at our Lee’s Summit location. This is a vital, hands-on role perfect for someone who enjoys working outdoors, is reliable, and doesn’t mind a bit of heavy lifting. You will be instrumental in ensuring our customers have access to the highest quality growing media and will support the overall operational efficiency of our busy nursery.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently bag and prepare various types of soil, mulch, and other growing media.
- Safely and repeatedly lift, stack, and organize heavy bags of products (50+ lbs) in retail and storage areas.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including the bagging station and surrounding retail areas.
- Assist customers with loading purchases into vehicles, providing friendly and helpful service.
- Support general nursery operations, including watering plants, moving inventory, and minor maintenance tasks as needed.
- Operate basic material handling equipment such as hand trucks and pallet jacks (training provided).
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to consistently lift 50+ pounds throughout the workday.
- Comfort and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions (sun, heat, cold, light rain).
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Excellent team player with a positive attitude.
- Basic communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a nursery, landscaping, construction, or other outdoor labor role.
- General knowledge of plants, gardening, or horticultural products.
- Experience operating a forklift or power jack (certification a plus).
- Customer service experience in a retail setting.
