Job Description
Are you an early bird with a keen eye for quality and a passion for fresh produce? Sydney Fresh Produce Distributors is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Produce Pickers to join our bustling fruit and vegetable market team in Blacktown. This is a critical role that ensures our customers receive the freshest and finest produce daily. You’ll be part of a dynamic environment, working mornings to get our products ready for distribution. Full training will be provided, so no prior experience is necessary – just a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately pick and pack a wide variety of fruits and vegetables according to order specifications.
- Conduct quality checks on produce to ensure freshness, ripeness, and absence of damage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the market and warehouse.
- Operate pallet jacks or other equipment safely (training provided if needed).
- Adhere to all food safety and occupational health and safety guidelines.
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation as required.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet daily dispatch targets.
Required Skills
- Ability to work early morning shifts, including weekends.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift and carry up to 20kg.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehousing, retail, or produce environment (advantageous but not required).
- Basic understanding of fresh produce varieties and quality indicators.
- Forklift license (preferred, but training can be provided).
