Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Youth Minister to lead and develop our youth programs for adolescents aged 12-18. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging and relevant experiences that foster spiritual growth, community building, and leadership development among our youth. This role involves planning and executing regular youth group meetings, special events, mission trips, and retreats, while also providing pastoral care and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive youth ministry program, including weekly gatherings, special events, and outreach initiatives.
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteer leaders to support youth ministry activities.
- Provide pastoral care, mentorship, and spiritual guidance to young people.
- Plan and lead engaging lessons, discussions, and activities relevant to the challenges and interests of adolescents.
- Organize and oversee youth-focused community service projects, mission trips, and retreats.
- Communicate regularly with youth, parents, and church leadership regarding ministry activities and progress.
- Manage the youth ministry budget and resources effectively.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where all youth feel valued and supported.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to connect with and inspire young people.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and contemporary youth culture.
- Proficiency in planning and executing engaging programs and events.
- Commitment to the Christian faith and the mission of the church.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of staff and volunteers.
- Valid Working With Children Check (Blue Card equivalent in QLD) or ability to obtain one.
- Driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Theology, Ministry, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in youth ministry or a similar leadership role.
- Experience with curriculum development for youth programs.
- Familiarity with digital communication tools and social media for youth engagement.
