Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Public Library Administration Intern to join our Civic Services team. This entry-level internship is designed for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in the administration and operation of a dynamic public library system. You will receive comprehensive training and mentorship, contributing to various aspects of library management, community engagement, and civic program support. This is an excellent opportunity for those passionate about public service, education, and cultural development, with no prior experience required.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the day-to-day administrative tasks of the library system, including data entry, record keeping, and scheduling.
- Support the planning and execution of public programs and civic engagement initiatives.
- Help organize and maintain library resources, both physical and digital.
- Provide administrative support for special projects related to library services and community outreach.
- Learn and apply library policies and procedures, ensuring efficient operations.
- Assist with visitor inquiries and provide basic information about library services.
- Collaborate with library staff on various tasks to enhance overall library performance.
- Contribute to reports and presentations on library activities and impact.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant program (e.g., Library Science, Public Administration, Communications, Humanities) is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
