Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Public School Admin Assistant to join our Education Support team at Dandenong High School. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals looking to start or further their career in school administration within a supportive educational environment. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth daily operations of our school, providing administrative support to teaching staff, students, and parents, and contributing to a positive school culture. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the school office, including data entry, filing, and record keeping.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing communications, including phone calls, emails, and postal mail.
  • Assist with student enrolment processes, attendance monitoring, and student welfare support.
  • Prepare and distribute school notices, newsletters, and other internal/external communications.
  • Maintain school databases and ensure accuracy of student and staff information.
  • Support school events, parent meetings, and excursions with logistical and administrative tasks.
  • Handle visitor inquiries and provide a welcoming reception for all school community members.
  • Order and manage office supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels.
  • Assist with financial administration tasks such as processing invoices and petty cash.

Required Skills

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
  • Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous administrative experience, particularly in an office or school environment.
  • Certificate III or IV in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Familiarity with school management systems (e.g., Compass, CASES21).
  • Current First Aid qualification.
