Job Description

Are you looking to start your career in data privacy and compliance? RBC is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Remote Data Privacy Compliance Assistant. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals with no prior experience in data privacy, as comprehensive training will be provided. You will play a crucial role in supporting our data privacy initiatives, ensuring adherence to global privacy regulations, and contributing to the protection of sensitive client information. This is a 100% remote opportunity, allowing you to work from anywhere within Canada, with a preference for candidates residing in Ontario.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and reviewing data processing activities for compliance with internal policies and external regulations (e.g., GDPR, PIPEDA).
  • Support the maintenance of privacy records, data inventories, and documentation.
  • Help prepare reports on compliance status and privacy metrics.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of privacy training materials.
  • Participate in data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs) as needed.
  • Respond to basic privacy-related inquiries and escalate complex issues.
  • Collaborate with various departments to embed privacy-by-design principles.
  • Stay informed about new data protection laws and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new information.
  • Demonstrated interest in data privacy, law, or compliance.
  • Problem-solving aptitude and a proactive mindset.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., business, law, information technology).
  • Familiarity with financial services industry concepts.
  • Experience with remote work environments.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.
