Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Remote Technical Illustrator to join our dynamic engineering support team. This is a 100% remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within Australia. As a Technical Illustrator, you will be instrumental in translating complex engineering concepts and data into clear, concise, and visually compelling illustrations for a wide range of technical documentation. You will work closely with our engineering teams to ensure accuracy and clarity in all visual content, supporting projects from conception through to completion across various industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain technical illustrations, diagrams, schematics, and exploded views from engineering drawings, CAD models, and written specifications.
- Collaborate directly with engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts to understand project requirements and ensure technical accuracy and consistency.
- Adhere to industry standards, client specifications, and internal style guides for all illustration work.
- Utilize specialized software to produce high-quality visual content for technical manuals, reports, presentations, and training materials.
- Review and revise illustrations based on feedback from engineering teams and quality assurance checks.
- Manage multiple illustration projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet tight deadlines and project milestones.
- Develop and maintain a library of reusable graphical assets and templates.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in industry-standard illustration software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Inkscape).
- Experience working with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor) for data extraction and interpretation.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in visual representation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with remote teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a remote work environment.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating technical illustration capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Technical Illustration, Graphic Design, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Prior experience in a technical illustration role within the infrastructure, defense, aerospace, or heavy industry sectors.
- Experience with 3D rendering software for creating photorealistic visuals (e.g., Blender, 3ds Max).
- Familiarity with content management systems or documentation authoring tools.
