Job Description
Northrop Grumman is seeking a skilled and passionate Robotics / Mechatronics Engineer to join our innovative team in Huntsville, Alabama. In this role, you will be instrumental in the design, development, and integration of cutting-edge robotic and mechatronic systems for critical aerospace and defense applications. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test robotic and mechatronic systems, including hardware, software, and control algorithms.
- Integrate robotic components such as sensors, actuators, and computing platforms into complete systems.
- Perform system-level testing, validation, and verification to ensure performance and reliability.
- Develop and implement control strategies for complex robotic systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers.
- Participate in all phases of the product lifecycle, from concept to deployment and maintenance.
- Document designs, test procedures, and results in accordance with engineering best practices.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in robotic system design, development, and integration.
- Strong programming skills in C++ and/or Python.
- Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS) or similar robotics frameworks.
- Knowledge of control systems theory and implementation.
- Familiarity with CAD software for mechanical design.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a strong analytical mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques for robotics applications.
- Experience with real-time operating systems.
- Familiarity with simulation tools for robotics (e.g., Gazebo, V-REP).
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
