Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Robotics / Mechatronics Engineer to join our dynamic team in Durham, NC. This role is crucial for the design, development, and implementation of cutting-edge robotic systems and automated solutions. You will be instrumental in advancing our capabilities in industrial automation, contributing to projects that range from concept generation to final deployment and support. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate, and implement robotic systems and mechatronic solutions for various industrial applications.
  • Develop and program robot control algorithms, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and efficiency.
  • Integrate robotic systems with other automation components, including sensors, PLCs, and vision systems.
  • Conduct system testing, debugging, and validation to ensure compliance with specifications and industry standards.
  • Provide technical support and training for deployed robotic systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and software engineers.
  • Participate in project planning, risk assessment, and design reviews.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and trends in robotics and mechatronics.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in robot programming (e.g., ABB RobotStudio, KUKA KRL, FANUC Teach Pendant, Python, C++).
  • Strong understanding of control systems, kinematics, and dynamics.
  • Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, Profinet, Modbus).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in robotics integration or automation.
  • Experience with vision systems for robotic applications.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards for industrial machinery (e.g., ISO 10218, ISO 13849).
  • Experience in simulation tools for robotic systems.
  • Project management experience.
