Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and robust Scrap Metal Labourer to join our heavy industrial team in Slacks Creek. This role is crucial to our operations, involving the physical processing, sorting, and movement of various scrap metals. You will work in a fast-paced, outdoor industrial environment, contributing to our mission of efficient metal recycling. This position offers competitive ‘high pay’ for individuals willing to work hard and adhere to strict safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate various hand tools and basic machinery safely and efficiently for sorting, cutting, and preparing scrap metal.
- Physically sort and separate different types of metals (ferrous and non-ferrous) according to company standards.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of materials onto trucks and into processing areas, ensuring proper securing of loads.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, including sweeping, tidying, and clearing debris.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to supervisors immediately.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production targets and maintain operational efficiency.
- Perform general labour duties as required to support the overall recycling process.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects repeatedly.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with a positive attitude.
- Basic understanding of safety protocols in an industrial environment.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to various tasks within the recycling yard.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a heavy industrial, manufacturing, construction, or recycling environment (minimum 1 year).
- Current Forklift Licence (LF Class).
- Experience operating other heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, loaders).
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- White Card (Construction Induction).
