Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Scrap Wood & Drywall Remover to join our construction and demolition teams in St. John’s. This role involves essential heavy lifting and demolition preparation, ensuring sites are clean, safe, and ready for subsequent phases of construction or renovation. You will be responsible for manually removing and transporting demolition debris, including wood, drywall, metal, and other construction waste, to designated collection areas. Adherence to strict safety protocols is paramount in this fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Manually load, unload, and transport scrap wood, drywall, and other construction debris.
  • Perform general site clean-up and maintain a tidy work area throughout demolition and construction phases.
  • Assist skilled tradespeople with demolition preparation tasks as needed.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision.
  • Sort and separate materials for recycling or proper disposal according to site procedures.
  • Adhere strictly to all company and site-specific health and safety regulations, including wearing appropriate PPE.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately to a supervisor.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to meet project deadlines.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly throughout a shift.
  • Strong physical stamina and endurance.
  • Basic understanding of construction site safety procedures.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
  • Authorization to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a construction, demolition, or general labor role (6+ months).
  • Valid Fall Protection certification.
  • Valid Confined Space Entry certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience operating small power tools for demolition or clean-up tasks.
