Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically fit Shearing Contractor Assistant to join our dedicated team operating out of Bathurst, NSW. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in the Australian wool industry. As an Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the shearing shed, supporting our experienced shearers and contractors. Full training will be provided for all aspects of the role, making this an ideal position for someone with a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a passion for rural life. You will assist with sheep handling, wool pressing, shed duties, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment across various farms.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist shearers with sheep handling and penning in a safe and efficient manner.
- Learn and perform wool pressing, skirting, and classing under supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the shearing shed and equipment.
- Ensure the welfare of sheep throughout the shearing process.
- Assist with equipment setup, maintenance, and packing.
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures diligently.
- Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
