Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker specializing in Child Protection to join our multidisciplinary team in Irvine, CA. This critical role involves providing expert psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, and ongoing support to children and families identified with child protection concerns. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing safety plans, coordinating care with internal and external agencies, and advocating for the best interests of children. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychosocial assessments to identify child protection concerns, family strengths, and areas for intervention.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized safety plans and case management strategies for children and families.
- Provide crisis intervention and counseling to children, parents, and caregivers experiencing trauma or stress.
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate community resources, including mental health, substance abuse, housing, and educational services.
- Collaborate effectively with medical professionals, schools, law enforcement, and child welfare agencies to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely documentation of all client interactions, assessments, and service plans in accordance with professional standards and organizational policies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and supervision to review cases and enhance intervention strategies.
- Educate families on child development, parenting skills, and available support systems to promote healthy family functioning.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of children and families within the healthcare system and broader community.
Required Skills
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Active state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Social Worker in California (e.g., ASW, LCSW preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of post-MSW experience in child protection, child welfare, family services, or a related clinical setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and child abuse/neglect identification and intervention.
- Strong clinical assessment, crisis intervention, and case management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex information clearly.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems and standard office software.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity in working with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in California.
- Experience working within a large integrated healthcare system.
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean) to serve our diverse patient population.
- Specific training or certifications in trauma-informed care, forensic interviewing, or specific therapeutic modalities relevant to child protection.
