Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Software Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team in our Halifax innovation lab. This pivotal role involves overseeing the entire software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and robust software solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical acumen, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for mentoring and developing engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the design, development, testing, and deployment of complex software systems and features.
- Drive technical strategy and roadmap planning, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and product vision.
- Implement and maintain best practices for software development, code quality, testing, and release processes.

- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets effectively, ensuring on-time and within-scope project delivery.

- Actively participate in architecture and code reviews, ensuring adherence to engineering standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven experience managing and leading agile software development teams.
- Strong proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, Node.js) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and distributed systems.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and release management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Experience with enterprise-level software development and large-scale applications.
- Familiarity with AI/ML technologies and their application in software products.
- Previous experience with open-source contributions or community involvement.
- Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP) or agile methodologies (e.g., CSM, SAFe).
