Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Stagehand to join our production team in Sheffield. As a Stagehand, you will be an essential part of bringing captivating live performances to life, ensuring the seamless setup, operation, and strike of stage sets, lighting, sound equipment, and props. This role is perfect for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a strong work ethic, and have a passion for the performing arts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the loading and unloading of stage equipment, scenery, and props.
  • Set up and strike stage equipment including lighting, sound, and rigging as directed.
  • Operate follow spots, fly systems, and other technical equipment during performances under supervision.
  • Perform basic maintenance and repairs on stage equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is safely stored and maintained in good working order.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and venue policies.
  • Collaborate effectively with the wider production team, including designers, technicians, and performers.
  • Support general venue maintenance and operational tasks as needed.

Required Skills

  • Strong physical fitness and stamina, with the ability to lift and move heavy objects safely.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Basic understanding of tools and their safe usage.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by performance schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a theatre, live events, or production environment.
  • Knowledge of theatrical terminology and stagecraft.
  • Certification in manual handling or working at height.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
