Job Description

Greystar is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Resident Advisor (RA) to join our student housing team in Virginia Beach. This is a live-in position offering a significant rent discount as a primary benefit, alongside a monthly stipend. As an RA, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive, inclusive, and safe community environment for our student residents. You will serve as a resource, mentor, and first point of contact for students, addressing their needs, organizing engaging programs, and enforcing community policies. This role requires a commitment to student success and community development, offering valuable leadership experience and the opportunity to make a tangible impact on students’ college experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary resource and mentor for residents within a designated housing area.
• Develop and implement a variety of educational, social, and cultural programs to enhance community engagement and student development.
• Act as a first point of contact for resident concerns, conflicts, and emergencies, providing appropriate guidance or referrals.
• Uphold and enforce community policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and respectful living environment.
• Conduct regular check-ins with residents and perform community walk-throughs to ensure facility standards are met.
• Facilitate conflict resolution between residents and provide mediation when necessary.
• Participate in an on-call duty rotation, responding to after-hours emergencies and critical incidents.
• Document incidents and policy violations accurately and promptly.
• Collaborate with housing staff and university departments to support student well-being and academic success.
• Assist with move-in and move-out processes, including room inspections and administrative tasks.

Required Skills

• Currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse community.
• Basic computer proficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous leadership experience in a campus organization, club, or volunteer role.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Experience living in a residence hall or student housing environment.
• Ability to mediate conflicts and problem-solve effectively.
