Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Sugar Refinery Sweeper to join our heavy industrial operations team in Leeds. This is a critical hands-on role involving maintaining cleanliness and order within our sugar refinery environment, which operates on a shift basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for sweeping, cleaning, and general upkeep of production areas, ensuring a safe and hygienic working environment for all staff. This role requires adherence to strict safety protocols and a willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, in a demanding industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform manual sweeping, scrubbing, and cleaning of designated areas within the sugar refinery.
- Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and vacuum systems.
- Collect and dispose of waste materials, including sugar residue, dust, and general refuse, in accordance with company procedures and environmental regulations.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and report needs to supervisor.
- Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene standards and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or maintenance issues promptly.
- Assist with general labor tasks as required to support refinery operations.
- Work collaboratively with production and maintenance teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, especially those related to food safety and quality.

- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, standing for long periods, and repetitive motions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with a commitment to punctuality and attendance.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles and the ability to follow instructions.
