Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and meticulous Surgical Instrument Sterilization Technician to join our vital back-office team in Canary Wharf. In this role, you will be crucial in ensuring the safety and quality of patient care by meticulously cleaning, sterilizing, and preparing surgical instruments and medical equipment. This is a hands-on position requiring attention to detail, adherence to strict protocols, and a commitment to maintaining a sterile environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Decontaminate, clean, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical devices according to established protocols and standards.
  • Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and washer-disinfectors.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and proper assembly.
  • Package instruments into sterile trays and packs, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
  • Monitor and record biological and chemical indicators to verify sterilization efficacy.
  • Handle and store sterile supplies appropriately to prevent contamination.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, infection control policies, and departmental procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with surgical staff and other departments regarding instrument availability and status.
