Job Description

Join NatCen Social Research as a Part-Time Survey Interviewer in Bath. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for conducting face-to-face interviews with members of the public, collecting vital data for our national research projects. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about contributing to a better understanding of society and influencing public policy. You will receive comprehensive training and ongoing support to ensure you are confident and capable in your role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting face-to-face interviews with members of the public using a laptop or tablet.
  • Explaining the purpose of surveys and answering respondents' questions clearly and accurately.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of all collected data.
  • Adhering to strict ethical guidelines and data protection regulations.
  • Achieving agreed-upon interview targets and maintaining high data quality standards.
  • Managing your own schedule efficiently to meet project deadlines.
  • Travelling within the Bath area to various households.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with diverse individuals.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer literacy (email, internet, data entry).
  • Residency in or near Bath, UK.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in market research, customer service, or public-facing roles.
  • A genuine interest in social issues and research.
  • Ability to speak additional languages (desirable but not essential).
  • Access to a car and a valid UK driving license (desirable, for wider reach).
