Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Technical Trainer to join our team in Whyalla. This critical role involves designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive training programs focused on IT systems, software applications, and engineering principles relevant to our mining and industrial operations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in upskilling our existing workforce and onboarding new employees, ensuring they possess the technical proficiency required to maintain operational excellence and drive innovation across our diverse projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and update technical training curricula and materials for IT and engineering topics.
  • Deliver engaging and effective training sessions to diverse groups of employees, both individually and in classroom settings.
  • Assess training needs through collaboration with department heads and identify skill gaps.
  • Evaluate training program effectiveness and implement improvements based on feedback and performance metrics.
  • Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting guidance during practical training exercises.
  • Maintain accurate records of training attendance and certifications.
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in IT and engineering.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Technical Trainer or in a similar role within IT or engineering.
  • Strong understanding of IT fundamentals, networking, software applications, and operational technologies (OT).
  • Knowledge of engineering principles applicable to industrial or mining environments (e.g., mechanical, electrical, process).
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex technical information for varied audiences.
  • Proficiency with training software and e-learning platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective training materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Education, or a related technical field.
  • Certifications in relevant IT technologies (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) or engineering software.
  • Experience in the mining, heavy industry, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, PLCs, or other industrial control systems.
  • Adult learning certification or experience with instructional design methodologies.
