Job Description

Embark on a rewarding career as a Trainee Fleet Mechanic through our comprehensive Apprenticeship Program with the Ville de Terrebonne. Key Responsibilities

  • Learn to perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on various fleet vehicles under supervision.
  • Assist experienced mechanics with more complex diagnostic and repair tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used.
  • Operate and maintain shop tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and departmental procedures.
  • Participate actively in all theoretical and practical training sessions.
  • Contribute to a clean and organized work environment.

Required Skills

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in vehicle repair.
  • Eagerness to learn and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
  • Basic problem-solving skills.
  • Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, lift heavy objects, and work in various conditions.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) or the ability to obtain one prior to starting.
  • No prior professional mechanic experience required – full training provided.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of vocational courses in automotive technology or a related field (asset, not required).
  • Basic computer literacy for diagnostic tools and record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of basic shop safety practices.
