Job Description
Embark on a rewarding career as a Trainee Fleet Mechanic through our comprehensive Apprenticeship Program with the Ville de Terrebonne. You will receive hands-on training and mentorship from experienced journeymen mechanics, learning to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of municipal government vehicles and equipment. Key Responsibilities
- Learn to perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs on various fleet vehicles under supervision.
- Assist experienced mechanics with more complex diagnostic and repair tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed and parts used.
- Operate and maintain shop tools and equipment safely and effectively.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and departmental procedures.
- Participate actively in all theoretical and practical training sessions.
- Contribute to a clean and organized work environment.
Required Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in vehicle repair.
- Eagerness to learn and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively in a team.
- Basic problem-solving skills.
- Physical stamina to perform manual tasks, lift heavy objects, and work in various conditions.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent) or the ability to obtain one prior to starting.
- No prior professional mechanic experience required – full training provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of vocational courses in automotive technology or a related field (asset, not required).
- Basic computer literacy for diagnostic tools and record-keeping.
- Knowledge of basic shop safety practices.
