Job Description

The Public Safety Canada – Border Enforcement Division is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Trainee Immigration Enforcement Officers. No prior experience in law enforcement or immigration is required; we provide all necessary professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all phases of the paid training program, including classroom instruction, practical exercises, and on-the-job mentorship.
  • Learn and apply Canadian immigration laws, policies, and procedures under supervision.
  • Assist senior officers with investigations related to immigration infractions, including interviewing individuals and gathering information.
  • Support the processing of individuals entering or exiting Canada, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Contribute to maintaining public safety and national security at various points of entry or within designated areas.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed reports and documentation as required.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, partners, and the public.
  • Adhere to all ethical guidelines and codes of conduct expected of public safety officers.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English (and/or French).
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Physical ability to meet the demands of the job, including standing for extended periods and potential for physically demanding situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in French or another official language of Canada.
  • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., criminology, law, public administration).
  • Experience in customer service or roles requiring public interaction.
  • Valid Canadian driver's license.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
