Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and working papers for review engagements, compilations, and audits.
- Support the team in preparing corporate and personal income tax returns.
- Perform data entry and reconciliation tasks to ensure accuracy of financial records.
- Learn and apply accounting principles, standards, and firm methodologies.
- Participate in client meetings and build professional relationships under supervision.
- Contribute to various administrative tasks as needed to support the accounting department.
- Engage actively in training programs and study for professional accounting examinations.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or business is an asset but not strictly required)
- Strong aptitude for numbers and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new software and processes
- A desire to pursue a professional accounting designation (CPA)
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of some post-secondary courses in accounting or business administration
- Previous experience in a customer service or office environment
- Familiarity with basic accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage)
