Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tunneling Engineer to join our dynamic infrastructure team in Dallas, Texas. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented engineer eager to work on challenging, large-scale tunneling and underground infrastructure projects. This role involves contributing to all phases of project delivery, from conceptual design and feasibility studies to detailed design, construction support, and project management. Key Responsibilities
- Perform geotechnical and structural analysis for various tunneling methods (e.g., TBM, NATM, cut-and-cover).
- Develop detailed designs for tunnels, shafts, and associated underground structures.
- Prepare technical specifications, reports, and calculations in accordance with project standards.
- Conduct site investigations, assess ground conditions, and provide recommendations for excavation and support systems.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including geologists, structural engineers, hydrologists, and construction managers.
- Provide technical support during the bidding and construction phases of projects.
- Utilize advanced software for numerical modeling and design optimization.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in tunneling or underground infrastructure design.
- Proficiency in geotechnical and structural analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, Rocscience, SAP2000).
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and underground construction practices.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project tasks and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively pursuing licensure.
- Experience with various tunneling methods including TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) and NATM (New Austrian Tunneling Method).
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and codes.
- Previous experience on large-scale public infrastructure projects.
