Job Description

The Mississippi Department of Employment Security is seeking an Unemployment Office Advisor for our Gulfport location. As an advisor, you will be the front line of support for individuals navigating unemployment benefits, guiding them through processes, and connecting them with vital resources. No prior experience in unemployment services is required; we provide all the training you need to succeed in this rewarding role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist unemployment insurance applicants with inquiries regarding eligibility, claims, and processes.
  • Explain complex state and federal unemployment regulations in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Guide individuals through the online application and claims management systems.
  • Review and verify applicant information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide referrals to other state agencies, community resources, and workforce development programs as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions and claim statuses.
  • Process routine paperwork and data entry related to unemployment claims.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with policies and procedures.

Required Skills
