Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated Urban Planner / Town Planner to join our dynamic team in Portadown, Northern Ireland. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to significant planning projects across the region. The successful candidate will be involved in all stages of the planning process, from policy development and master planning to managing planning applications and appeals, ensuring compliance with local and national planning legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate a range of planning applications, appeals, and inquiries.
  • Prepare comprehensive planning statements, reports, and masterplans.
  • Conduct site appraisals, feasibility studies, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, local authorities, statutory bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide expert planning advice on complex development proposals.
  • Contribute to business development activities and bid proposals.
  • Mentor junior team members and share knowledge.
  • Stay updated with changes in planning legislation and policy.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in urban or town planning.
  • Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
  • Strong understanding of Northern Irish planning policy and legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in GIS and CAD software.
  • Demonstrated project management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Urban Planning or related field.
  • Experience working with both public and private sector clients.
  • Specialisation in a particular planning area (e.g., environmental planning, heritage, housing).
  • Full UK driving license.
