Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our thriving practice in Stoke-on-Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician passionate about animal welfare and delivering high-quality veterinary medicine. You will be responsible for a varied caseload, including consultations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, working alongside a supportive team of nurses and support staff. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general veterinary consultations, examinations, and diagnoses.
- Conduct routine and emergency surgical procedures, including soft tissue and some orthopaedic cases.
- Develop and implement treatment plans for various medical conditions.
- Interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory results.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding their pet's health and treatment options.
- Supervise and mentor veterinary nurses and support staff.
- Participate in on-call rota as required (frequency to be discussed).
- Adhere to professional and ethical standards set by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).
Required Skills
- Veterinary degree (MRCVS registered or eligible for immediate registration)
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in small animal practice
- Excellent clinical and surgical skills
- Strong diagnostic capabilities
- Proficient in client communication and building rapport
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Compassionate approach to animal care and client service
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with exotics or other specialist areas is a plus
- Postgraduate certifications or a desire to pursue further qualifications (e.g., CertAVP)
- Experience with advanced imaging techniques (e.g., ultrasound)
