Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Surgeon to join our thriving practice in Stoke-on-Trent. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician passionate about animal welfare and delivering high-quality veterinary medicine. You will be responsible for a varied caseload, including consultations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures, working alongside a supportive team of nurses and support staff. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general veterinary consultations, examinations, and diagnoses.
  • Conduct routine and emergency surgical procedures, including soft tissue and some orthopaedic cases.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans for various medical conditions.
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory results.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding their pet's health and treatment options.
  • Supervise and mentor veterinary nurses and support staff.
  • Participate in on-call rota as required (frequency to be discussed).
  • Adhere to professional and ethical standards set by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS).

Required Skills

  • Veterinary degree (MRCVS registered or eligible for immediate registration)
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in small animal practice
  • Excellent clinical and surgical skills
  • Strong diagnostic capabilities
  • Proficient in client communication and building rapport
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Compassionate approach to animal care and client service

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with exotics or other specialist areas is a plus
  • Postgraduate certifications or a desire to pursue further qualifications (e.g., CertAVP)
  • Experience with advanced imaging techniques (e.g., ultrasound)
