Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on City Bike Share Fleet Mechanic for Outdoor Maintenance to join our growing team in Dartmouth, NS. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the daily upkeep, repair, and redistribution of our bike share fleet across the city. This is an active, outdoor position that requires a strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and functionality for our bikes. You will be an integral part of ensuring our users have a seamless and enjoyable experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and safety checks on all bike share bicycles, including e-bikes.
  • Conduct on-site repairs and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical issues (e.g., brakes, chains, tires, batteries, motors).
  • Utilize specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve fleet problems in the field.
  • Manage the swap-out and transport of depleted batteries for e-bikes.
  • Rebalance and redistribute bikes to designated docking stations or high-demand areas using a company vehicle.
  • Respond promptly to service calls and dispatch requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and presentable condition of the fleet.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Provide clear communication with dispatch and team members regarding fleet status and issues.

Required Skills

  • Proven mechanical aptitude and experience with basic hand and power tools.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in an outdoor environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid Class 5 Nova Scotia Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with bicycle or e-bike maintenance and repair.
  • Experience in field service or mobile maintenance roles.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems (especially for e-bikes).
  • Familiarity with Dartmouth and surrounding areas.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
