Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled VFX Technical Director to join our innovative team in Oklahoma City. This role is crucial for developing, maintaining, and supporting the tools and pipeline used by our artists to create breathtaking visual effects. The successful candidate will be a bridge between artistic vision and technical execution, providing solutions that enhance efficiency and creative possibilities. This position is open to global talent and we offer comprehensive support for obtaining a Global Talent Visa for eligible candidates.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain custom tools, scripts, and plugins using Python, C++, and other relevant languages for DCC applications like Maya, Houdini, Nuke.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for artists, diagnosing and resolving complex pipeline issues.
- Collaborate with R&D, pipeline architects, and department supervisors to define technical requirements and develop robust, scalable solutions.
- Optimize existing workflows and tools to improve efficiency and performance across various production departments.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for tools and pipeline processes.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in VFX production.
- Mentor junior technical artists and share knowledge within the team.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Python scripting and programming for VFX.
- Strong understanding of 3D computer graphics principles and animation pipelines.
- Experience with at least one major Digital Content Creation (DCC) package (e.g., Autodesk Maya, SideFX Houdini, Foundry Nuke).
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with C++ programming.
- Knowledge of rendering technologies (e.g., Arnold, Redshift, V-Ray).
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- Experience with cloud-based production workflows.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Prior experience in a large-scale VFX production environment.
