Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable individual to join our team as a Wildlife Rescue Center Laborer. This vital role focuses on the heavy cleaning and maintenance of our facility, ensuring a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for our rehabilitating animals and staff. While the work is physically demanding and often involves strenuous tasks, it is incredibly rewarding, directly contributing to the well-being and recovery of wildlife. Full training on specific cleaning protocols and safety procedures will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily deep cleaning and sanitization of animal enclosures, rehabilitation areas, and shared spaces.
- Manage waste disposal, including hazardous waste, following strict safety protocols.
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
- Assist with general facility maintenance tasks as needed, such as minor repairs or groundskeeping.
- Monitor and report any maintenance issues or concerns regarding facility hygiene and safety.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Contribute to a positive and supportive team environment.
Required Skills
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks consistently, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to strict cleaning and safety protocols.
- Comfortable working in an environment with various animals, including some that may be injured or require specialized handling (though direct animal handling is not a primary duty for this role, proximity is required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in heavy labor, janitorial services, or a similar physically demanding role.
- Familiarity with operating basic cleaning equipment.
- Experience in an animal care setting (volunteer or paid).
- Valid driver's license.
