Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Wood Shop Sanding Assistant to join our production team in Corby. This entry-level position is perfect for someone looking to start a career in woodworking and manufacturing. You will play a crucial role in preparing wooden components for finishing, ensuring high-quality standards are met. This is an on-site role within a a working wood shop, which naturally involves a dusty environment. Full personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and its consistent use is mandatory for your safety. Full training will be given to ensure you are confident and competent in all aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Sanding various wooden components, both by hand and using power tools (after training).
- Inspecting wood surfaces for imperfections and ensuring a smooth finish.
- Assisting skilled woodworkers with various tasks as needed.
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, including dust extraction.
- Adhering strictly to all safety protocols and wearing provided PPE at all times.
- Reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to a supervisor.
- Moving and stacking finished or unfinished wood components.
Required Skills
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
