Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tunneling Engineer to join our dynamic team in Reno, Nevada. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for skilled professionals, including international candidates, as we provide Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) and visa sponsorship for qualified individuals. As a Tunneling Engineer, you will contribute to critical infrastructure projects, working on all phases of tunnel design, construction, and inspection. This position requires a strong technical background in geotechnical engineering and structural analysis, with a focus on underground structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform design calculations and analysis for tunnel projects, including temporary and permanent support systems.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and design drawings in compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct site investigations and geotechnical data analysis to inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, project managers, and clients.
  • Provide technical support during the construction phase, including review of contractor submittals and site inspections.
  • Utilize advanced geotechnical software for modeling and analysis of tunnel behavior.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and project schedules.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in tunnel design or construction.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical analysis and structural design principles.
  • Experience with relevant engineering software (e.g., PLAXIS, FLAC, AutoCAD).
  • Strong understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and underground construction methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Geotechnical or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience with various tunneling methods (TBM, NATM, cut-and-cover).
  • Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, FHWA).
