Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Grain Buyer to join our agricultural trading team in Noosa Heads. This pivotal role involves sourcing various grains from growers, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring timely procurement to meet market demands. You will be responsible for market analysis, contract negotiation, and contributing to the overall trading strategy, operating within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with grain growers in the Sunshine Coast region and beyond.
- Actively source and purchase various grains, negotiating competitive prices and terms.
- Monitor market trends, supply and demand, and competitor activities to inform purchasing decisions.
- Manage and administer grain contracts, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to coordinate grain movements and storage.
- Provide accurate market information and advice to growers.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand our grower network.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in grain procurement, agricultural trading, or a related field.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent understanding of agricultural markets and supply chain dynamics.
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business, Commerce, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Existing network of grain growers in Queensland.
- Experience with commodity trading software.
