Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Railway Station Assistant to join our team in Oxford. This vital role involves ensuring the smooth operation of the station, providing outstanding service to passengers, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. You will be the face of GWR, assisting customers with inquiries, ticketing, and platform navigation, while also supporting station management with day-to-day duties. Full training will be provided to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in this dynamic public transport environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers with journey planning, ticket sales, and general inquiries.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers and staff, adhering to all safety procedures and regulations.
  • Assist with platform duties, including dispatching trains safely and efficiently, and managing passenger flow.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the station environment.
  • Handle customer complaints and feedback professionally, escalating issues as required.
  • Operate station equipment, including ticket machines and public address systems.
  • Support disabled passengers and those with reduced mobility, ensuring accessibility and comfort.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, following established protocols.
